Buying a Used Vehicle on the Coast
Coastal British Columbia treats vehicles differently than the Interior or eastern Canada. Less road salt is used here, so severe rust is less common, but constant damp finds worn seals and tired brake components. Two things are worth checking on any Island used vehicle: the condition of the underbody, where surface rust is normal but flaking and perforation are not, and brake wear, which wet roads and hills accelerate.
Ask for the vehicle history report before you decide. It shows registration history, reported accidents and any lien registered against the vehicle.
